Elmore County Domestic Violence Council has been serving clients since 1989. Our programs are geared towards a holistic approach for every client we serve. We have a beautiful facility, Evans Harmony House, that can house up to 6 women and 14 children. We strive to serve everyone with no relation to education, sexual orientation, marital status, gender, national origin, race, age, relation, or color by providing services that are not only client-centered, but also by promoting choices, safety, and client empowerment.

  • Youth Advocate has a strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. You should also be culturally competent and sensitive, and have a passion for working with youth.
  • Youth Advocate will work with all ages.

Job Description

TITLE: Case Manager/ Advocate 


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Coordinate with Elmore County Domestic Violence Council (ECDVC) team for the activities involved in assisting clients and prospective clients of the program, providing coverage of crisis lines, and maintaining the safety and security of the Shelter. Offering a safe, supportive environment for victims of physical, sexual, and/or psychological abuse.


BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to manage responsibly and demonstrate good judgment under pressure

Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements

Ability to multi task with limited supervision

Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times

Ability to remain patient and calm in stressful situations

Valid Driver’s License

Energetic and flexible

Work well with staff as a team

Ability to listen and be objective, displaying communication skills with particular skill at problem solving

Knowledgeable about community resources


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ensure safe, secure operation of Shelter

Document/update client files according to established guidelines during each shift

Oversee upkeep and maintenance of Shelter

Monitor daily activities of Shelter clients as outlined in house rules

Follow up with residents based on established guidelines

Attend required meetings and trainings

Participate in presentation of volunteer trainings, community education and fundraising activities and functions

Provide advocacy for clients with primary and secondary community service providers, such as law enforcement, courts, Health & Welfare, and hospitals

Provide clients with ongoing crisis intervention, including empowerment and self-advocacy information

Facilitate routine life-skills workshops with shelter clients

Cover crisis line; screen, and assist prospective clients according to established criteria, ensuring callers have immediate access to assistance

Utilize knowledge to answer routine questions and provide assistance to clients and general public

Upkeep of staff office area as needed

Clean resident rooms when necessary

Conduct intake/exit interview process with Shelter clients

Responsible for efficient operation of advocate office, filing, updating and maintaining paperwork and forms and making sure there are sufficient brochures, forms, etc.

Responsible for organizing and copying brochure and handouts

Maintain resource and information areas for residents and clients

Keep work area clean and organized at all times

Keep desk organized with confidential items secured throughout the shift

Perform additional duties or tasks assigned by management

bilingual/trilingual language speakers, LGBTQ+, Refugee, Immigrant, Undocumented, BIPOC, etc.

Mature ability to handle potentially stressful situations

Assess the needs of clients for stable housing and employment

Develop housing stability plans (or Individual Care Plans) with clients, identifying any obstacles and strategies on how to achieve them using a trauma-informed, housing-first approach including working with clients to stabilize in housing and take over the rent independently

Provide information to clients about housing options, community services and/or government agencies and their respective programs, services, or benefits for which they may be eligible

Assist clients in making inquiries about and/or applying for adequate housing, applicable programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, etc. and other services or benefits

Provide coverage for all office and crisis lines, ensuring callers have immediate access to assistance

Utilize knowledge to answer routine questions and provide assistance to clients and general public

Provide outreach, professional advocacy and referrals to clients

Interview, screen, and assist prospective clients according to established criteria

Document/update client files according to established guidelines during each shift

Follow up with clients based on established guidelines

Attend required meetings and trainings

Network with community service providers and domestic violence programs to ensure continuity of services

Complete paperwork and reports in an accurate, timely and confidential manner

Network with legal system and community resources

Act as liaison between clients, landlords, partner agencies, law enforcement, judicial system and community organizations

Assist in periodic data collection of client demographics, services provided, etc.

Perform additional duties or tasks as assigned

Occasionally be on-call
